Tutor Policy
These Tutor Terms form part of the Terms of Service and apply to you when you use LETO Class as a Tutor to offer tutoring services. Please read these terms carefully alongside the main Terms of Service, Payments & Wallet Terms, and Dispute & Refund Policy.
1. INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS
1.1 Your Relationship with LETO Class
Important: You are an independent contractor, not an employee of LETO Class or MGDA Group Limited.
This means:
(a) You are free to set your own schedule and accept or decline bookings;
(b) You determine how you provide tutoring services;
(c) You may offer services on other platforms or independently;
(d) We do not provide you with equipment, training, or employee benefits;
(e) No employment, partnership, or agency relationship is created by these Terms.
1.2 Your Business Responsibilities
As an independent contractor, you are solely responsible for:
(a) All taxes on income earned through the Platform (see Section 5);
(b) Any business registrations or licenses required in your jurisdiction;
(c) Your own insurance, if applicable;
(d) Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
LETO Class does not provide tax, legal, or business advice. We recommend consulting with appropriate professionals.
2. STRIPE CONNECT ONBOARDING
2.1 Requirement
To receive payouts for your tutoring services, you must complete Stripe Connect onboarding. You cannot receive payments until this process is complete.
2.2 Verification Process
Stripe Connect onboarding includes:
(a) Identity verification (government-issued ID such as passport or national ID card);
(b) Address verification;
(c) Bank account details for receiving payouts;
(d) Tax information as required by applicable law (e.g., tax identification number).
This verification is required by financial regulations and helps protect both you and the Platform from fraud.
2.3 Verification Timeline
Stripe typically completes verification within a few business days. In some cases, additional documentation may be requested. We will send you reminders if your verification is pending or incomplete.
2.4 Verification Failure
If verification fails or you do not complete the process:
(a) You will not be able to receive payouts;
(b) Earnings will accumulate but remain unavailable until verification is complete;
(c) Prolonged failure to complete verification may result in account restrictions.
3. PROFILE AND PRICING
3.1 Profile Accuracy
You must provide accurate information in your Tutor profile, including:
(a) Your real name and photo;
(b) Your educational background and qualifications;
(c) Your experience and expertise in the subjects you offer;
(d) Languages you can teach in (and proficiency levels).
Misrepresenting your qualifications or experience may result in account suspension or termination and may have legal consequences.
3.2 Setting Your Rates
You are responsible for setting your hourly rates within the range permitted by the Platform. Consider:
(a) The Platform fee that will be deducted from your earnings (see Section 4);
(b) Your experience and qualifications;
(c) Market rates for similar tutoring services;
(d) The value you provide to Students.
You may change your rates at any time, but changes will not affect already-confirmed bookings.
3.3 Profile Visibility
By creating a Tutor profile, you consent to your profile information being displayed publicly on the Platform to help Students find and choose Tutors.
4. EARNINGS AND FEES
4.1 Platform Fee
A Platform fee is deducted from each completed lesson:
Platform Fee: 10% of the lesson price, or €3, whichever is greater.
Your earnings per lesson = Lesson price minus Platform fee.
Examples:
(e) €20 lesson: Fee = €3 (minimum), Your earnings = €17;
(f) €50 lesson: Fee = €5 (10%), Your earnings = €45;
(g) €100 lesson: Fee = €10 (10%), Your earnings = €90.
The fee applicable to each booking is displayed before the Student confirms, and your expected earnings are shown in your dashboard.
4.2 48-Hour Cooldown
After a lesson is completed, funds remain in Escrow for a 48-hour cooldown period. This allows time for any issues or disputes to be raised. After the cooldown, funds become available for payout.
4.3 Additional Fees
The following additional fees may be deducted from your payouts:
Fee Type Amount When Applied
Standard payout No fee Weekly payouts
Instant payout As displayed On request (if available)
Tax reporting (DAC7) Currently €2/month Months when you receive earnings
Fee amounts are displayed in your dashboard. The tax reporting fee covers regulatory compliance costs and is only charged in months when you receive payouts.
5. PAYOUTS
5.1 Payout Schedule
Payouts are typically processed on a weekly basis. Funds that have cleared the 48-hour cooldown during the week are included in your next payout.
Instant payouts may be available for an additional fee, subject to Stripe availability and your eligibility.
5.2 Minimum Payout Threshold
Minimum payout amount: €50
Payouts are only processed when your available earnings reach the minimum threshold. Earnings below this threshold will accumulate until the minimum is reached.
If you close your account with earnings below the threshold, contact support to arrange a final payout.
5.3 Payout Timing
Once a payout is initiated, timing depends on:
(a) Stripe's processing time;
(b) Your bank's processing time;
(c) Your country of residence.
Typically, payouts arrive within 2-7 business days after initiation.
6. TAX RESPONSIBILITIES
6.1 Your Obligations
Important: You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all taxes on income earned through LETO Class.
This may include:
(a) Income tax;
(b) Self-employment tax;
(c) VAT or sales tax (depending on your jurisdiction and earnings);
(d) Any other applicable taxes or contributions.
LETO Class does not withhold taxes from your payouts. We strongly recommend consulting with a tax professional to understand your obligations.
6.2 Tax Reporting (DAC7)
Under EU regulations (DAC7), platforms are required to report information about sellers/service providers to tax authorities. We comply with these requirements through Stripe Tax or other compliant reporting tools.
A tax reporting fee (currently €2 per month) is deducted from your payout in any month in which you receive earnings. This covers the cost of regulatory compliance.
6.3 Tax Documents
You can access earnings summaries and tax-related documents through your Stripe Dashboard. We may also provide annual earnings summaries upon request to help with your tax reporting.
7. CONDUCTING LESSONS
7.1 Accepting Bookings
When a Student requests a booking:
(a) Review the booking details (time, subject, any notes from the Student);
(b) Accept or decline within a reasonable time;
(c) If you accept, you commit to being available at the scheduled time.
Only accept bookings you can fulfill. Frequent declines or cancellations affect your profile visibility and reputation.
7.2 Lesson Delivery
When conducting lessons, you agree to:
(a) Join the video call on time (we recommend being ready a few minutes early);
(b) Provide tutoring services professionally and to the best of your ability;
(c) Deliver content aligned with what you advertise in your profile;
(d) Treat Students with respect;
(e) Maintain a suitable environment for tutoring.
7.3 Technical Requirements
You are responsible for having:
(a) Reliable internet connection (we recommend at least 5 Mbps);
(b) Working camera and microphone;
(c) A quiet, professional environment;
(d) Backup plans in case of technical issues.
8. CANCELLATION AND NO-SHOW PENALTIES
8.1 Cancellation Consequences
If you cancel a confirmed booking:
(a) The Student receives a 100% refund;
(b) You receive a cancellation penalty badge visible on your profile for 7 days;
(c) We may reduce your visibility in search results;
(d) Repeated cancellations may result in account restrictions or suspension.
If a Student cancels less than 12 hours before a confirmed lesson, payout allocation is: 75% to you, 25% Platform Fee, and 0% refund to the Student.
We understand emergencies happen. If you must cancel due to a genuine emergency, please contact support --- we handle these on a case-by-case basis.
8.2 No-Show Consequences
If you fail to join a scheduled lesson within 15 minutes of the start time:
(a) This is treated the same as a cancellation;
(b) The Student receives a 100% refund;
(c) You receive a no-show penalty;
(d) Repeated no-shows may result in account suspension.
8.3 Student No-Shows
If a Student fails to join a lesson and you were present and ready:
(a) The lesson is considered completed;
(b) You are entitled to 75% of the lesson amount (25% Platform Fee applies);
(c) The Platform logs will serve as evidence that you joined.
9. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
9.1 Your Responsibilities
As a Tutor, you must support academic integrity. You agree NOT to:
(a) Complete assignments, essays, or homework for Students to submit as their own;
(b) Help Students cheat on exams or tests;
(c) Provide answers to be copied verbatim into graded work;
(d) Participate in any form of contract cheating or academic fraud.
Important: Engaging in academic dishonesty may result in immediate account termination. We may report such activity to relevant authorities or educational institutions where required by law or where appropriate and lawful to do so.
9.2 What You Should Do
Your role is to support learning, not to do the work for Students. This includes:
(a) Helping Students understand concepts;
(b) Guiding them on how to approach problems;
(c) Reviewing their work and providing feedback;
(d) Teaching skills and knowledge they can apply themselves.
10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
10.1 Your Materials
You retain full ownership of educational materials you create (such as lesson plans, notes, presentations, and exercises). LETO Class does not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
10.2 License to LETO Class
By using the Platform, you grant LETO Class a limited, non-exclusive license to display your profile information and materials as necessary to operate the Platform and promote your services.
10.3 Respecting Others' IP
When creating or sharing materials, ensure you have the right to use any third-party content (such as textbooks, articles, or images). Do not share copyrighted materials without appropriate permissions or licenses.
11. COMMUNICATION
All communication with Students should take place through the Platform's messaging system. This protects both you and the Student by keeping a record of discussions.
You agree not to:
(a) Share personal contact information to circumvent the Platform;
(b) Solicit off-platform payments;
(c) Engage in harassment or inappropriate behavior;
(d) Use communication channels for spam or marketing unrelated to tutoring.
Violation of these standards may result in account suspension or termination.
12. ACCOUNT CLOSURE
If you close your Tutor account:
(a) Complete any pending bookings or cancel them properly;
(b) Earnings above the minimum threshold (€50) will be paid out on the normal schedule;
(c) Earnings below the threshold --- contact support to arrange final payout;
(d) The 48-hour cooldown still applies to recent lessons.
If we terminate your account for policy violations, we may withhold pending payouts while we investigate. In cases of fraud or serious policy violations, we may recover funds or withhold payouts to the extent permitted by applicable law.
